160mm, 180mm and 203mm High Specification Ultra Light Aluminium Rotors
Photos are of our "BDR1" aluminium brake rotor which is currently undergoing testing. The rotor is exceptionally light and offers excellent braking efficiency plus incorporated in the design is a patented wear indicator unique to BIKE DYNAMIX.
The rotor is produced from a solid billet of 7000 series alloy, which is a mixture of titanium, aluminium, magnesium, manganese, silicon, copper, chromium, zinc and iron, the material is approved for use by companies such as Rolls Royce, Boeing, Airbus and for use in Motorsport. Compared to traditional stainless steel rotors, these rotors weigh in at approximately half the weight, they also lose heat quicker (generated by pad contact friction) and less heat in a rotor means less brake fade equating to increased stopping power each time the brake is applied.
The BDR1 rotor looks even more stunning in the flesh! - see below to learn more about this special rotor...
![]() | Picture 1Our "BDR1" rotor is a direct replacement fitment for international standard 6 machine screw fastener hubs. Skilfully CNC machined from high performance certified 7000 series alloy by ex Formula 1 engineers these rotors have absolutely flat surfaces, run 100% true and are beautifully crafted. Rotor fasteners shown in the photo to the left are our high security A2 grade polished stainless steel dome head fasteners which require a special high security "L" pin recess tool to remove (available from us) and offer far more protection than standard star (TORX) head fasteners.
![]() | Picture 2"BDR1" rotors are CNC precision engraved with our brand name which not only looks striking but also serves a purpose as our unique patented wear indicator. The secret is in the precise computer controlled depth of engraving on both faces of the rotor. Over time engraving will slowly disappear as the rotor naturally wears, once our name is no longer visible you can easily identify a rotor that needs replacing as it will be at minimum safe working thickness. BIKE DYNAMIX is the first to set this new standard in rotor safety - do your rotors need replacing? It's not easy to tell but with the "BDR1" rotor a quick visual check is all you need! We will also be offering the option to have text of your choice (in place of our brand name) engraved into your "BDR1" rotor during the manufacturing process. Do you fancy some cool looking customised rotors? Perhaps a nick name or caption?
![]() | Picture 3The BDR1 rotor has optimum venting which clears brake pad gases and dust caused by pad friction quickly and effectively and also aids the cooling of the rotor, a cooler rotor means better braking efficiency, and alloy by it's very nature loses heat faster than stainless steel. Pad contact surface area is optimised within the design incorporating a 19mm width braking surface so with a BIKE DYNAMIX rotor you will never be braking on the rotor spokes (this can be dangerous as spokes are the weakest part of a rotor, but it's alarming just how many bikes are set to brake on this dangerous area) - go and checked your rotors!
![]() | Picture 4This photo taken in our workshop shows the "BDR1" rotor in "Natural" form and in "Gold" hard anodised (not to be confused with inferior cosmetic anodising) form. The special process of the "Gold" hard anodising not only coats the surface but also penetrates into the rotor at an equal depth. The "natural" rotor already has tensile strength properties similar to many mild steels, once the hard anodising takes place the "Gold" version is even harder. Other colours will be available including black, red and blue.

The finish speaks for itself, chamfer edges and precison vents all machined to the highest quality (a world away from inferior alloy rotors on the market pressed from sheet material). Our rigorous quality policies and procedures ensure that each rotor produced is a great as the one before, adding that extra special look of quality to any MTB. Standard rotors are the only part of MTB's to be made from heavy steel - isn't it time you went lightweight?
